iPod - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

iPod - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"Additional features:

"In March 2002, Apple added limited PDA-like functionality: Text files can be displayed, while contacts and schedules can be viewed and synchronized with the host computer. Some built-in games are available, including Brick (a clone of Breakout), Parachute, Solitaire, and Music Quiz. A firmware update released in September 2006 brought some extra features to fifth generation iPods including adjustable screen brightness, gapless playback, and downloadable games (available for purchase from the iTunes Store)."

A little piece of advice from Rob Miller

Here's a little clip from an article I found scrounging up in the iPod articles.

Ipod - Is It Worth The Money?
By Rob Miller

When people think of MP3 players most people think of the Ipod by Apple. But is it worth the money? My family began purchasing MP3 players about a year ago and the difference in price between one manufacturer and another can be substantial. The question you should ask yourself is: "How much am I willing to pay for the popularity of one MP3 player over another?" The answer of course is, you shouldn't pay a dime more than you need to. Most MP3 players regardless of price deliver outstanding sound quality and isn't that what you are looking for? Bells and whistles that you pay hundreds of dollars extra for are probably not necessary if you are just looking for a good quality MP3 player that won't break your budget. In fact, in our experience you can purchase an MP3 player which is superior to the Ipod in several areas for a fraction of the price.

The article goes on to confirm that other mp3 players are the same, if not better than the iPod. But I doubt the other mp3 players have the support or notoriety that the iPod does.

I think some people (myself included) enjoy going against the grain JUST to go against the grain. The iPod is one of the most popular personal entertainment devices known today. "But does that mean it's the best?" When does it not? If people thought it was bad, why would it sell like crazy? Wouldn't you think people'd stop buying them?

Although I do agree with Rob on this one; you need to make sure you're purchasing something that you've researched, and not just buying a device because it's popular.

Something I found while looking around at iPod Stuff

Steps to get a 60GB Ipod
by: Shelly Green

You don't realize it yet, but in the next 2 minutes you're going to learn how to get yourself an Ipod for next to nothing. Okay first off, they are not completely free but they are very simple to get. You're intelligent enough to know that you can't get something for nothing. But by knowing this information you will be able to get your Ipod, for about 8 dollars or less. By the time you finish reading this page you'll feel you have all the knowledge to get your Ipod.

Allow your thoughts to focus on the information in the next few paragraphs very closely. It is a very simple process.

First sign up for a free account...http://premiumipods.freepay.com/?r=31260156

Next click on one of the offers they are offering. Choose an offer they run between 1 to 8 dollars to start. Try to pick something that you may want. Also if you choose one with a monthly subscription do not forget to cancel after you get your Ipod. Unless you want to keep it ( the subscriptions are very good, I actually kept mine).

Now you must refer 8 people. If you are like me and do not have any friends do not worry. There is a simple solution for this. Get a Myspace, Yahoo, or AOL account. Then just write a blog explaining the offer. Thousands of people go through these a day. Think of it as free advertising. And that's it. Simple. Just think about how easy this is.

Now for those of you critics out there.(we always have a few of them) I will explain why companies do this. As you read this paragraph you will experience less and less doubt. So pay very close attention as I explain the process the big companies are using. It is called viral marketing. For those of you who have an online business you know the most important thing is generating quality traffic. The major companies just care about building a customer base, so they are willing to give to get their customer base. They just care about you referring the 8 people to get your Ipod. This is a common practice to build customers. AOL and Las Vegas are just a few of the many who use this technique. Las Vegas gives away the free comps and sells you on the Vegas nightlife, they do not sell playing the slot machines. Las Vegas's main goal is to get you to gamble but they sell you on everything else. And these companies main goal is to get you to refer the 8 people and they sell you on the Ipod.

Now let this all sink in for a moment. Now you understand why it is a win-win for everyone. And for those of you in business for yourself try using this form of advertising in your next campaign. If it's good enough for the major companies it should be good enough for the small fish as well.

I thought you'd like to know this. iPods can pretty much make someone's day. ;)

We All Start Somewhere: An iPod Blog

Get your iPod to work! Play with it like you never thought possible. iPods are simple if you know how to use them, but sadly, most people get them for popularities sake, and never learn HOW these little media devices work!

iPods are technological advances that no one saw 20 years ago. Heck, we were reeling form the advances that the WalkMan presented, much less mp4s or iTunes.

iPods aren't tricky to learn, nor are they a waste of money. Because iPods do more than just play music:

  • Store files on your iPod.
  • Watch TV shows on your iPod.
  • iPod picture slide shows.
  • Books on your iPod.
  • Calender
  • Watch
  • and iPods do much, much more than all of these.
iPods are such a big part of today's culture and I want to help everyone get the best out of it. So Enjoy you iPeople.
